Dan Rather is stepping down from his chair as anchor of CBS News. He will still be conducting journalism from his role as a CBS 60 minutes II reporter. The much criticized news anchor has had a number of clashes with the Republicans over the years. Rather perhaps got most infamous for his interview/debate with then Vice President George H.W. Bush in 1988.
